Pony Club mounted games

The objectives of the Irish Pony Club are to encourage young people to learn to enjoy all kinds of sports connected with horse riding, to provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instill in its members the proper care of their animals. It also promotes the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self discipline.

Mounted Games is one of the disciplines of the Pony Club. It is a team competition requiring courage, determination and all-round riding ability on the part of the team members, and the careful and systematic training of their ponies.

During the summer months competitions are held at various locations and shows through out the country at Under 10, Junior and Senior level culminating in the final of Under 10 and Junior at the Pony Club Festival in July, and the Senior Competition at the RDS during the International Horse Show.

Each team consists of five members who take part in a variety of games where speed, accuracy and breathtaking excitement are the norm. The games are fun to watch and attract large crowds at shows and are one of the top attractions at the RDS during horse show week.

Stradbally Family Fair is delighted to host the Irish Pony Club at Stradbally Hall on the 2nd of July.
