Ring 1: 11 a.m. sharp. Mares or geldings aged 4 years and over. Riders aged 16 years and over on 1st of January 2017. Entry fee €15 for 1 class and €10 for each and every other class.

Concessions: horses competing under Racehorse to Riding Horse rules in ring 3 may enter Class 1 OR Class 2 and/or Class 9 for the concession price of €7.50.

    7. Purebred, Anglo and part bred Arabian Horses (min. 50%).
    8. Ladies Side-Saddle Versatility Class (affiliated to Side Saddle Ireland)
    9. Ladies Style and Elegance Class for pure and part-bred (minimum 50%) Thoroughbreds and Arabian horses, (can be ridden astride or side saddle).

Championship of classes 6-9.

 

Ring 2: 11 a.m. sharp.

Pony Judge: Patricia Hoey

Rosette, a bag of sweets and a carrot for your pony for ALL ENTRIES in this ring. Prizes in kind. Entry fee €10.

Classes in this ring are open to ponies- mares or geldings, 4 years old and over.

  1. Tiny Tots lead rein pony up to 123 cm, riders under 5. Snaffle bridle only, lead rein must be attached to the nose band. Special prize for best turned out combination (rider/handler/pony).
  2. Lead rein pony up to 128 cm, rider age 3-8. Snaffle bridle only, lead rein must be attached to the nose band. Special prize for best turned out combination (rider/handler/pony).
  3. First ridden pony up to 138 cm, rider age 8-12. Snaffle bridle only. Special prize for best turned out.
  4. Ridden pony up to 148 cm, rider age 10-16. Special prize for best turned out.

Break for Lunch

  1. Ridden Pony up to 153 cm, rider age 14-25. Special prize for best turned out.
  2. Ridden Show class confined to children who live in Laois, ponies exceeding 138 cm but not exceeding 153 cm.
  3. Junior Side Saddle, ponies not exceeding 153 cm. (Affiliated to Side Saddle Ireland)
  4. Small Traditional Gypsy Cob: exceeding 132 cm, but not exceeding 153 cm, to be shown in natural state.
  5. Fancy Dress. Best pony, rider (and handler- optional) in fancy dress. Pony may be led. For ponies not exceeding 138 cm.
  6. Fancy Dress. Best pony and rider in fancy dress. For ponies 138 cm and upwards.

 

 

Race Horse to Riding Horse
Ring 3: RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE. 12.30, sharp.

20: Title: Retraining (within the confines of the show ring) Racehorse to Riding Horse.

Open to thoroughbred horses that have started under rules on either the track or point to point but must not have:
• Won more than 3 classes in either retraining or novice classes under Racehorse to Riding Horse Ireland rules
• Won an open class under Racehorse to Riding Horse Ireland rules
• Won or been placed in the first three places or a championship such as the Royal Dublin Horse show, Balmoral, Hickstead or the Royal Windsor Horse show.
Entry fee 15 euro, prizes in kind. There will not be a Ride Judge for this class, riders must prepare an individual show. Conformation will not be considered.

  1. Title: Open Ridden Racehorse to Riding Horse.

Open to thoroughbred horses that have started under rules on either the track or point to point ridden as a hunter style class to display walk, trot, canter, gallop, rein back and halt. Passport and racing details to be made available for inspection on the day of the show. Competitors must have attained their 15th birthday. Proper show turnout is essential. Entry fee 15 euro, prizes in kind. There will be a Ride Judge for this class but conformation will not be considered. Every entry in the Open Class will receive a pair of tickets to racing at Down Royal Racecourse for 28th July. This class is part of the Down Royal League

22: Title: RACEHORSE TO RIDING HORSE Unraced Thoroughbreds

Open to thoroughbred horses that have either been officially named or unnamed. This is a hunter style class to display walk, trot, canter, gallop and halt. Passport (Weatherbys if IRE or GB, or other racing relevant authority if from any other location) details to be made available for inspection on the day of the show. Competitors must have attained their 15th birthday. Proper show turnout is essential. Entry fee €15, prizes in kind. There will be a Ride Judge for this class. Conformation will not be considered.

CHAMPIONSHIP OF CLASSES 20, 21, 22.

Rh2Rh Champagne Challenge: Entry fee €5. Winner receives a bottle of Champagne.

Horses in classes 20, 21, 22 are also eligible to compete in classes 1 (hacks) OR 2 (riding horses) and 9 (Ladies Style and Elegance Class) in ring 1, for which there is a concession entry price of €7.50.

Wildcards may be given for the ITM Final at Iverk Show in August.

 

 

Ring 4: Derby competition 12.30 p.m. sharp

23: Derby competition 70cm. Entry fee €15

24: Derby competition 80cm: Entry fee €15

25: Derby competition 90cm. Entry fee €15

26: Derby competition 100cm: Entry fee €15

Western Riding Classes: IQHA league points offered to IQHA exhibiting members. €15 to enter one class and €10 for every subsequent class.

28: Horsemanship – divisions: Youth, Novice Horse, Amateur, Open & Open Tack ‘have a go’.
29: VRH Trail – divisions: Youth, Novice Horse, Amateur, Open & Open Tack ‘have a go’.
30: VRH Ranch Riding – divisions: Youth, Novice Horse, Amateur & Open.
